H.R.H. Princess Margriet visited the photo exhibition The Faces of Groesbeek at the Canadian War
Cemetery in Groesbeek on May 3, 2021. The Mayor of Groesbeek, Mark Slinkman and Her Excellency, the
Ambassador of Canada, Lisa Helfand welcomed her on arrival.
At the cemetery H.R.H. Princess was also welcomed by the chairman and vice-chairman of our
foundation and introduced to the other board members and also to the Area Director West and Central
Europe of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Geert Bekaert.
H.R.H. Princess was shown around and at various graves one of the members of our Research Team told
a short life story. Also two students of the Canisius College in Nijmegen told the life story they
wrote, in the presence of their teacher.
With due regard for the corona measures, the photo exhibition could be visited until 17 May.
The photo exhibition was made possible by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the
Municipality of Berg en Dal and many sponsors.
The Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery was built by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. They
honour and care for the men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and
Second World Wars, ensuring they will never be forgotten. Funded by six Member Governments, our
work began with building, and now maintaining, cemeteries at 23,000 locations all over the
world.
